You're only 40% done
Everytime you think you're done,
You're only 40% done.
This is the exact mentality that special forces around the world use to push through mental barriers.
It all started when Marquis Jet founder, Jesse Itzler, noticed an amazing feat from a soldier of the Navy SEALs - and eventually got him to live with his family.
“I first met “SEAL” at a 100-mile run and I was running this race as part of a 6-person relay team and he was running the entire race by himself,” Itzler said.
“Who is this guy? I’ve never seen anything like it. And during the race, I kept an eye on him and around mile 70 — he weighed probably 260 pounds,
which is quite large for an ultra runner — he had broken all the small bones in both of his feet and had kidney damage and he finished the race!”
The 40% Rule
When invited by Itzler to come live with his family,
SEAL enforced the 40% rule:
"When the mind tells you that you're done, you're really only 40 percent done."
Sure enough, Itzler experienced this himself when he tried doing pull-ups and only managed 8.
The moment he thought he was done and couldn't do a single more, SEAL went "Alright we're not leaving here until you do a 100 more".
Seems impossible right? At least to Itzler it was.
Eventually, one at a time, break after break, he completed it! The 40% rule proved that we're capable of so much more.
That we usually stop way before our BIG breakthrough. And if we could just dig deep and find the strength,
We can have everything that we wish for!
